Tomorrow morning is Emily’s funeral, and Firday we are heading to LA for a few days. Also, I am changing hosting companies. So basically- don’t hope for too many updates. I will try- but no promises.

Maybe it is just me, but I think that (in order) Howard, me, and Etta Lyn all look the same.

I have been thinking alot about families today. This morning, Katie Nielsen called me and let me know that the Reeves family was in an car accident near Boise last night, and that Emily Reeves had passed away.

I don’t understand. How is the beautiful little girl (carrie’s sister) not here any more? Why would this happen to a family like the Reeves? The Reeves are the type of family that made me join the Church. I wanted what they have. And now, like that, they have a little bit less of that thing I wanted, yet- they have more of it. Maybe 1 year or 5 years ago this doesnt hit me as hard; now I have my own family and my own precious little girl and it does hit me hard.

It makes me realize that I (and everyone else) am mortal. And any given time, could be the time.

Live each day. Dont procastinate. Tell your loved ones that you love them.

And hold your baby in your arms every day.

Thoughts and prayers to the Reeves and their extended family- of which I feel I am a small part.

I will miss you Emily. You always were my favorite.

Dads Cold vs Babys first game

It seems that every day is something new she is doing for the first time. I hope it always feels this way.

Baby Etta attended her first basketball game tonight, the Utah Jazz hosting the Indiana Pacers at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. The Pacers handily kicked the crap out of the Jazz, but we had a really fun time. I have been sick for a couple days, but taking my little girl to a sports contest lifted me up.

I am so mad I forgot the camera- it won’t happen again. I did take a pic with etta next to the Jarron Collins poster after though.

Etta’s first Monday Night Football/FHE

My mom left tonight after being here for the last week or so- it was nice to have some help around the house. I also realized it was the most time I have spent with her in about 9 years or so. And, Traci got a new camera out of the deal- thanks to a small mishap with my camera.

We saw Walk the Line this week as well. JC (johnny, as well as the other one) has always had signifigance to us. In fact, two of his songs were in our wedding video. And he and JRitter died on my birthday. aargch. Anyway, it was a great movie, and Traci decided to hook up her hair like ms June’s.

Tonight- we met Angelica and Ryan and Adam at the new Iggy’s in Ft Union. Decent place- needs more TVs; but they have the coolest baseball display ever of the Brooklyn Dodgers on baseballs. I will get a pic next time we are there.

The Colts won improving to 11-0, and baby Etta did great.

Thankful for Turkey and…

I am so thankful. Things have literally never been better in my whole life. I feel so very blessed. I have a wonderful wife, a beautiful daughter, a semi obedient dog, a good job, and our own house. I never thought things could be so good.

Tonight we had some more visitors- My good friend Mark is in town from Columbia University- and more good friends Brad, JD, and Big (Matt) AL. Everyone had a fun time playing with the baby, and then we got down to real Thanksgiving- a few hands of cards. That is except for JD who pussed out. I think everyone had a good time.

Getting back to my thankfulness, I am so damn thankful for technology. I don’t know to use most of it- but I freeking love it.

and I love woot.

Friends visit

A big thank you to Nalani, Jen and Melissa who brought us a nice dinner and visited with us and the baby tonight. It’s really nice to have friends visit.

My goals for tonight (soon) is to link up hatcherbones.com and reply to emails.

Traci and I watched the last few hands of the 2005 WSOP. She is the coolest girl alvie, as she plays out the hands before they do.

Big Bad Baby Etta Lyn Chase

Since the general public is typically a great place to judge the current barometer of whats cool- I have decided to do a daily ish blog of the Chase family and our escapades.

Traci called me a little after midnight while I was at work Monday night. I drove home at about 80 mph, picked her up, and drove to the hospital about 60 mph. The nurses were not as excited as we were. They checked us in to a room, and basically said we will not be having the baby until business hours. We checked out Maverick on VHS from the counter, and watched/fell asleep.

Traci’s contractions were getting harder, and the doctor placed a perfect epidural. (sp?) We then waited until around 9am, and Traci started pushing. About 2 hours later, Baby Etta was born. She had a conehead.

Thank you so much to all of our visitors whilst we were in the hospital.

We are now home to our new home, in the South Sugarhouse/Millcreek area. Etta had some high levels of Bilirubin (jaundice) and had to be on a bilibed the first two days she was home. It was hard for both of us, especially Traci. But at the end of the day, it was better than having to have her stay at the hospital.

I am excited to get this going- so I will sign off for now and hopefully add more later tonight.
